Bank branch sheet
Opening a bank account in Argentina as a foreigner
Print it or save it as a PDF from your browser. It summarizes the FrontierArg guide, with sources checked on October 4, 2026.
1. The question to open with
Meaning: “I am [a nonresident / regularizing my residence / a resident with DNI] and have [identity and tax documents]. Which current peso deposit account can you open for this case? Please confirm the branch or online channel, certification and translation, identifier, appointment, charges, CBU, card/app access and accepted origins of incoming funds.”
2. Your file before choosing a bank
This is a preparation list, not a universal bank checklist. Ask which items and formats the selected institution requires:
- Identity and any required legalization, apostille or Argentine translation.
- Migration or residence evidence for your case.
- Existing CUIT/CUIL or the applicable CDI documentation.
- Address and tax-residence information.
- Activity or income records, intended account use and source-of-funds evidence.
Ask whether originals, certified copies or a branch appointment are needed. BCRA Communication B 12635 requires identification and customer checks; it does not establish a particular app’s onboarding capability.
3. Write down the answer from the bank
| Topic | Answer |
|---|---|
| Bank and branch | |
| Exact product name | |
| Currency | |
| Identifier required: CDI, CUIL or CUIT | |
| Channel: branch or digital | |
| Rules for incoming transfers | |
| Documents requested | |
| Date and who answered |
4. Before you transfer money
- Confirm that holder and identifier match your documents.
- Ask which currencies and transfer origins the product accepts and what records it requires.
- Check charges, limits and recovery of access from abroad.
- For property money, align payment and source-of-funds requirements with your bank and escribano before sending it.
Evidence boundary: BCRA establishes a regulatory possibility and identification framework. Only the selected financial institution can confirm the current product, documents, onboarding channel, limits and approval for an individual applicant.
